The Confucius Institute at The University of Iowa (CIUI), a unit of
International Programs, is seeking candidates for the position of
Curriculum Coordinator (Program Associate II) with a targeted start date
of August 1, 2010.  Primary responsibilities include curriculum
development and management of the CIUI Chinese language and culture
program and
supervision of CIUI Chinese language and culture instructors.

Required qualifications include:  MA in Chinese language pedagogy or
Second
Language Acquisition of Chinese or equivalent combination of education
and
experience ; Demonstrated excellence in teaching; Minimum of two years
teaching experience; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in using computer software and multimedia equipment.  High
degree of discretion and independent judgment.  Reasonable (1-3 years)
administrative, supervisory and program experience.

Desirable qualifications include: Proficiency  in all areas (reading,
writing, speaking, and listening) in both Mandarin Chinese and English;
Certificate in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language; Solid training
and/or
experience in educational technology; US driver’s license.  Considerable
(3-5) years administrative, supervisory and program experience is
desired.
