Lecturer in Chinese

Stony Brook University's Department of Asian and Asian American Studies
invites applications for a full-time lecturer in Mandarin Chinese language,
beginning Fall 2008. Primary duties are teaching Mandarin Chinese language
courses at various levels, three courses per semester. Commitment to
dynamic and effective language teaching is essential. Expertise in curriculum
and materials development and experience with summer study abroad
programs are desirable.

Required: Candidates should have at least an M.A. in applied linguistics,
Chinese linguistics, second-language acquisition or pedagogy, Chinese
literature, or a relevant concentration involving Chinese studies. Candidates
should have native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin and English, and a
record of excellence in teaching with experience at the university level in the
United States.
