Chinese Instructor at Duke University

The Department of Asian and African Languages and Literature at Duke
University invites applications for a annually renewable full-time
instructor in Mandarin Chinese language beginning Fall 2008. Candidates
should have an M.A. in language pedagogy, applied linguistics, or a
relevant concentration involving Chinese studies, and should possess
knowledge of current second-language teaching methodologies. Native or
near-native fluency in Mandarin and English and a record of excellence
in teaching with experience at the university level in the United
States are required. The primary responsibilities consist of teaching
introductory and intermediate courses and designing assessment tools.
Experience with curriculum and materials development, knowledge of
instructional technologies, and a desire to further
pedagogical/professional development are desirable.  The maximum
teaching load is 5 courses per year (2 or 3 courses per semester).
Salary is competitive.
