Sidwell Friends, a co-educational, PK-12, Quaker day school, seeks
applicants for a full-time Upper School Chinese teacher.  This person
will teach Chinese language courses to students in grades 9-12 and
potentially assist with other aspects of the Chinese Studies program.
Established in 1983, the Chinese Studies Program is one of the oldest
high school programs in the United States offering courses in Chinese
language, history and culture.  A major component is a language
sequence in Mandarin Chinese.

Qualifications include experience teaching Chinese; familiarity with
Chinese language pedagogy; experience in China; strong background in
Chinese culture and native or near-native proficiency in spoken and
written Chinese; a bachelorâ s degree; a commitment to working
collaboratively with other Chinese teachers to create a strong language
program; strong interpersonal skills and comfort in dealing with
multiple and diverse constituencies.
